TITLE Comparison of International and European Standards Regarding Energy Management in Industry |
ABSTRACT The European Union (EU) has set ambitious targets to increase energy efficiency by 32.5 % by 2030 compared to a development without further efficiency efforts [1]. According to the EU, sustainable efficiency improvements can be achieved, among other things, through mandatory energy audits and management systems in the companies concerned. Today, a large part of society is dependent on resources such as electricity, gas, oil and water. Without these resources, daily life would be unimaginable, but awareness is needed. It is important that we humans use resources responsibly. For everyday life, suggestions and legal regulations have been created for dealing with the scarcity of resources and sustainability. In industry, guidelines and laws regulate the use of resources such as electrical energy. However, these regulations do not only apply in Germany, but - usually initiated by the European Union (EU) - for all member states of the EU. Do the companies concerned only have the choice between an energy audit and an energy management system or can sustainable synergy effects be achieved by linking them with other management systems? |
