Analytical Investigations of Plane Wave Propagation Across a Single Tuned Mass Damper

ABSTRACT

The problem of wave propagation in elastic beams is presented in a general fashion. The role of tuned mass damper is also shown. In particular we will calculate reflection and transmission coefficients across a tuned mass damper and show their frequency dependence. The same analysis will be extended to the case of an impact tuned mass damper. In particular we will show the effect of impact on the equations that govern this kind of devices.
